Wow, first ever time in 10 years my computer has been hit with a really annoying virus.
I was working on it, then all of a sudden it said “your computer has been locked” for illegal activity and pay £100 for a first time offence etc.
I knew it was a scam instantly, any thing which restricts access to your PC and forces you to pay to fix it is a scam. Especially when it uses dodgy brokers like ukash.
It makes it even more authentic by saying your webcam is being recorded and switches on your webcam pointing to yourself. Load of bollocks really, but quite spectacular none the less.
Anyway, boot into safe mode and download Malware Bytes Anti Malware and Remove it, or HunterPro if you can’t.
It’s removed now and I’m currently running a virus scan to clean it up further. It’s quite a special one to have me worried with a scan, but none the less. I beat it within the space of 5 mins 😛
