Clearscore<\/a><\/strong> is one of my favourite sites when it comes to monitoring my credit rating. I’ve been aiming to improve my score over time and keep track of all the things that could hurt my score. You realise just how much debt you have, how much it’s hurting your score and potential points you can use to improve it.<\/p>\n Your credit rating impacts your ability to get loans, mortgages and credit cards. So it’s important to keep it in a good status and fix any problems that are highlighted. A debt can impact your credit file for years down the line. You also tend to realise the impact of Hard and Soft searches on your credit file.<\/p>\n Now, the real purpose of this post was a topic related to Clearscore that I wanted to discuss. A lot of people won’t realise it has this feature unless they use the site. Or more importatly may think their accounts are secure.<\/p>\n Recently they’ve gone that one step further, along with some other companies usually related to credt ratings. They now carry out monitoring of passwords that you use to see if they’ve been exposed on the dark\/deep web.<\/p>\n Think you’re safe? You can check yourself if your password has been exposed through this website<\/a><\/strong> type in your email address that regularly use and hit enter. Green is good, Red is bad. If your account has been compromised anywhere it will tell you where the data breaches occured and what sites they are most likely related to.<\/p>\n Clearscore Protect has a monitoring program in place that scans for the dark web for leaked passwords. Usually done via a hacked forum, data breaches or weak passwords and then notifies you of the site it was used on and part of the password that was used.<\/p>\n I realised a long time back that a lot of my passwords were insecure so I went about changing them. A lot of mine were leaked on the dark web, but I’ve been securing all of my accounts over time.<\/p>\n It doesn’t matter how good your password is, I had some incredibly complex hashes that I generated online<\/a><\/strong> (DEAD LINK SEE BELOW) but the actual database containing the passwords was hacked and my password was cracked.<\/p>\n I’ve been provided with an updated link to a password generator here<\/a><\/strong>. I’m unsure of the authenticity of the site, so please use at your own risk, normally I use Lastpass Generator<\/a><\/strong> as it’s a site known to me<\/p>\n All you can do for this is mitigate the damage and either change your password, or delete the account entirely.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n If you don’t use Clearscore Protect, or have an account setup. I’d highly recommend it, the last thing you want is to have an account hacked or your information compromised online.
