On investigation it seems to be related to bad references to previous application installations. What I suspect is happening, is the program is updating itself correctly when software updates are needed, but after the software is updated. It&#8217;s either not updating the local\/registry values and pointing to them for the software installation when launching the application or there&#8217;s a corrupted entry somewhere locally that cannot be read by the system.<\/p>\n<p><strong> TROUBLESHOOTING <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1) I proceeded by opening up the debug log for the application so I knew where to start off with using Notepad++. This is located in the following folder&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Google\\Chrome\\Application\\Debug.log<\/p>\n<p>The first thing I identified was that it was clearly pointing to a previous update or installation as it was in a different folder.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-996 gallery-columns-3 gallery-size-thumbnail'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/www.andrewhope.co.uk\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/chrome-debug-log1.png'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.andrewhope.co.uk\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/chrome-debug-log1-150x150.png\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>2) The program installs the following on a new installations {folders in bold} and it also renames the old installer to old_chrome.exe<\/p>\n<p>avcodec-54.dll<br \/>\navformat-54.dll<br \/>\navutil-51.dll<br \/>\nchrome.dll<br \/>\nchrome_100_percent.pak<br \/>\nchrome_frame_helper.dll<br \/>\nchrome_frame_helper.exe<br \/>\nchrome_launcher.exe<br \/>\nchrome_touch_100_percent.pak<br \/>\nd3dcompiler_43.dll<br \/>\nd3dx9_43.dll<br \/>\n<strong>default_apps<\/strong><br \/>\ndelegate_execute.exe<br \/>\n<strong>Extensions<\/strong><br \/>\nicudt.dll<br \/>\nInstaller<br \/>\nlibegl.dll<br \/>\nlibglesv2.dll<br \/>\n<strong>Locales<\/strong><br
