How much did I earn in April 2025?
Obviously a really great month for my financially as an affiliate, one of my payouts was received for my Virgin broadband internet
I have two more to go from people who decided to purchase broadband provided by Virgin media after reading my article and following the affiliate link in my Virgin Internet post article. There’s been 3 people so far, anyone else?
Side note on Virgin payout: The most recent payout I received was my most recent order, the two oldest ones haven’t been paid out yet. My recommendation if you purchase with link is to send me an email at my website (admin@myname.co.uk) so I can follow it up if there’s been no payout. As I need to provide some details to Virgin in order to have them follow it up.
The two payouts still to pay (28/12 – Nat W) and (15/01 – M Smith). If you’re either of these people get in touch so I can help sort it out (as I’m assuming you haven’t been paid either) as I’ll need to relay the information onto you that is required to prove the order.
I haven’t been doing much with the website for a while, just letting it slog along. Affiliate payouts are always a bit weird, I’m getting more clicks on Amazon but I’ve previously stated many times I just need to work on developing more traffic. Problem is articles, until I get something to write there’s not much I can write. As I get writers block with content
Noted last month my 1U pfSense build is in progress. I have the main hardware now, just waiting on some PCI-e adapters then pretty much going to finish off the build.

Monthly admin thoughts
Think there’s going to be a few repairs over the coming weeks, as I’ve been looking at the car and there’s a list of jobs to do and stuff to buy
Car still has the same stuff, I’l have to take some time off work as I’ve been meaning to do a lot for it. I’m probably going to be replacing the tyres in 1 or 2 weeks as they’re going to be near the limit for the wear indicators. I have the money for it, just obviously want to wear them down so I’m getting my moneys worth. I’m monitoring them daily so I know when they’re going to replace
Also had a new problem occur on the car this morning (rainlight sensor), no idea what the hell that was about. I know where it is, just it disappeared. So I’ll have ot monitor that one in case it keeps cropping up
Next article to come should be my router build one I think. Looking forward to testing it. I “should” be able to fit all the hardware I’ve purchase inside the 1U case (although it’s bloomin tight). The spec I have is overkill, and most people recommend running Proxmox with containers. For now I’m going to run pfSense on the hardware only, and then if I like it I want to change it. I might buy a smaller computer dedicated for pfSense, and then use this as another server for something. The end build is going to be about 32-48GB of ram with a quad core CPU and 2xQuad 10GB NIC. I won’t be use the copper ones except for WAN uplinks, as they’re meant to generate loads of heat.
It also got me thinking on future network, my Switch is going to be a fibre only, then any POE devices can have their own POE switch. As 10GB copper switches are expensive, where as 10GB Fibre switches are relatively cheap (and also don’t pump out anywhere) as much heat
