Affiliate Earnings August 2025

How much did I earn in August 2025?

Average payment this month

Virgin media payments from the Internet article. I received the 2nd notification that the payment was cancelled, so so there should be no further payments outstanding that I’m waiting on. Kind of disappointing that two of them are missing but least I know now I dont need to kepe an eye on it.

Monthly admin thoughts

Just a calmer month, car went through it’s MOT. It failed initially. I had a mild panic moment after hearing it failed, as I was only off work on holiday for 1 more day and needed to resolve it sharply

In terms of failure, the car basically needed 2 new bulbs and a replacement drop link at the rear. I hadn’t actually fitted it fully when I did the suspension a couple of years previously, it had been loose ever since then. There was always a noise but I never bothered looking for it.

Basically it was the bolt sliding in the rear arm because the threads were stripped. You live and learn. I’d also managed to fit the drop links on the wrong side of the anti roll bar, which probably didn’t help it. However it had been through at least 1 garage who hadn’t noticed it on the MOT. This is why I trust my local garage, they know I’ll fix it, and I trust their knowledge and work.

I ordered some drop links from eBay on next day delivery, decided I didn’t want to wait just incase and ended up going to a local motor factors and purchased a replacement. I fitted the replacement drop link within 30 mins, and also rejoined the wires on my ABS sensor further up the loom as the alarm was tripping again. This is on my list for fixing in 2026 as it’s really annoying the crap out of me not having factory functions on the car and relying on bodges.

There was another couple of things on the MOT highlighted, I need some new number plates, and replacing an exhaust manifold mount. Other than that nothing else. So the MOT cost me around £100.

The drop links I ordered from eBay weren’t actually delivered until late in the afternoon on the final day of my holiday so I would never have got the car back in time for it’s pass. I kept the drop links as spares. They can just sit in a tub in their bags if ever needed.

In terms of my other projects, mainly my pFsense server one I’ve purchased a small piece of metal from eBay. I’m going to use my die grinder and rotary tool to cut a clamp to try and clamp it down that way. After that I’m stumped and not sure what else to try. I’d rather not buy SFF parts, but this may be an option too. The problem isn’t getting the signal, I’ve already worked that out. The PFC cables work fine once you apply enough contact onto the pins, it’s just clamping them down. Superglue is non conductive but holds well, doesn’t apply enough clamp force. Manually clamping them down gives good continuity. I don’t fancy solding the wires manually either. As I’d be looking at soldering somewhere in the region of 400 connections, which is a lot of chances for things to go wrong.

Also getting my 3D printer back in action again. I’m going to start making the objects to sell in a shopify store so need the printer operational, even if for this moment it’s low volume stuff. I’m going to start reaching out to people too to sell their products directly, because I hate competition on eBay. I prefer to link to stuff I use myself.
