How much did I earn in August 2026?
No major changes this month, just focussing on goals. My website is doing good overall, and my old target was around £5 per month consistently, I feel like I’m earning this now, so new goal is now £10 per month consistently, then £20 after that.

No change to how I feel on my ISP or my Website provider, still top notch which you can access via affiliate links for HostXNow (Hosting), or Youfibre (and entering my code T969EU). I’ve no complaints, and just recently renewed my internet with Youfibre for another couple of years for a slightly cheaper price. I am still considering having a backup ISP service, or at least running at options. I want to run a private torrent server (nothing illegal, just self hosting ISO files of Install CD’s, Bitcoin Core files, etc) but this isn’t an option with Youfibre. So I’ll either look at another ISP with a basic / slow speed package which can double up as my backup link for internet or buying online storage space and just storing the files that way. Probably do the online storage, but I’ll have to find a good reliable service. As I do recall a radio station, or a business recently lost about 15 years worth of files because an online storage company went bust. This is one of the reasons I prefer to self host everything
Website traffic was average 25.2k unique users and 41k page views. After doing some research signing up through Ahrefs recently from last months purhcase, as they have an excellent starter plan for around £27 per month. Im starting to think my website wasn’t hit by a Google Core update, but by backlink poison. Whilst I’ve had a lot of sites backlink to me over the years, I’ve never really looked at this. However when I did my research there was a lot of high DA sites, marked as spam in Ahrefs, that were nothing but link networks. They all started lots of backlinks around the times I’ve been having the problems.
I’ve started working on removing these now, that I know where to look. However it will take another few weeks or so before any real positive changes take place at least stops hammering my website. I’ve went straight to using Google disavow, it’s been a couple of weeks already and I’ve already “lost” backlinks to the spamming DA sites. Which I find good. I’m now looking each day and adding spam sites to disavow, they tend to have random URL’s that all follow similar naming so they’re quick to identify
I’ve automatically disavowed 4 x TLD from my website. This doesn’t stop them linking to it, it just tells Google to ignore them. It’s helped as my spam is going down a bit, which mains I just need to maintain it whilst focussing on everything else. The good benefit of the starter plan too is the keyword research tool. I can see which keywords my website ranks for, and also what articles I can write that I’ve been thinking about writing for more traffic.
I’ve always found my problem is having so many things to do and not enough time to them. I want to start using some of the materials I have lying around. Building a soundproof server cabinet for my room. As I want to start rerouting all my CCTV and network cables, whilst keeping them in my bedroom in a silent state. It’s background noise to me now hearing high pitched fans on switches, however I forgot how silent things are when you can’t hear them running constantly.

HEALTH, WEALTH and ALL ELSE
- Health no changes
- Wealth, nothing changed here either. I’ve been setting up the accounts I created so that their automatically paid when I get paid now for simplicity. Saves me remembering to invest, the money is just automatically pumped into the accounts and automatically invested. The only ones I have to manually do now are my Trading212 accounts because these don’t support recurring investments. At the moment in time I’ve also decreased my outbound investment by £100, this is purely for personal reasons as I’m also wanting to build up a small pool inside my main bank account for any large purchases I feel like doing. My toolbox is calling me, so chucking away £1200 per year currently to build it up. Makes no difference to me in the grand scheme of things as it’s still only year 0 currently. A lot can change between now and retirement
- All Else, as noted previous posts, the car eventually passed it’s MOT for another year. I’m pretty much at the point now with my car where I feel like doing tidy up and improvements. I’ve concentrated on making the car reliable over the years. The next major thing that needs doing will be clutch, but I don’t forsee this for another 2-3 years before I contemplate it anyway. So I’m at the point where I don’t really need to spend any money and just want to get things tidied up. Fix any faults, cosmetic repairs. Practice welding, spray painting etc. I’m still thinking about buying another car, or a quad-bike that I can turbocharge for an extra runabout but I’ve got a bit more choice now. I know my car needs a service, so next time I’m on holiday I think I’ll do another oil change at the very least. Filter should be OK currently on it. Then I’ll look at scanning and anything else I’ve been meaning to do with the car. Think it’s about time I learned to practice spray painting and welding to get on with some projects and repair knowledge as needed
