How much did I earn in October 2023?
Not much this month, doesn’t bother me though. I’m just reporting it. Going to carry out another couple of fixes on my car. The weather and temperature have changed lately (cold, wet). My car has come up with an ABS/Traction control alarm.
I figured it was probably going to be a wheel speed sensor of a sort since ABS was lit up so scanned my car. Turns out I have 4 errors that need fixing on my Audi A3 (not bad since the last scan was about 1 year ago)
- Glow Plug 2 faulty (I’ll just replace all 4)
- Rear light bulb, bad earth / faulty (not sure on this one, it’s been flagged a couple of times. not sure why. I’ll look at earths first)
- Rear Left Wheel Speed sensor (easy fix, broken wire or faulty sensors)
- V113 Interior Flap Motor (either repair or replace it)
Still I get some new articles to write at least and helps give me some more content or my website. If I rebuilt my website now I would have done a wordpress based website, since they suit people like me better. I do like my car repair articles, I just don’t like the layout design of them. So I work with the site I have until I can learn to redevelop it. Basically “How to, car repair” articles go on the techdocs section of my site, and generic “car repair” posts, just go in the blog.

Monthly admin thoughts
I’ve identified why my site was being hammered. Traffic itself was stabilising, but I discovered a drastic drop on my website with traffic levels. Where I was receiving about 10% of my normal traffic volume. The traffic drop coincided with a Google update in September. So my website is now getting a limited about of traffic (still about average for what I’d expect), but not the volume I’d expect
Not sure how to fix it yet, as SEO is something I’m always learning. So I’m trying to recover it, and figure I may aswell keep writing how I normally do, and hope it goes away unless I can work out how to fix it. I still rank on Google for my car repair articles, so at least I’ll keep writing these, and just developing more content to rank in Google.
At some stage I’m going to abandon Google Adsense. Whilst you can get good earnings, compared to eBay Partner Network. There’s really two things that still bother me when it comes to this network
- Earnings are sporadic in terms of how much you can earn
- The number of ads being placed, and how much it removes interests in the website
I want to focus on more conversion through text links, they’re by far by best performing adverts on my website and convert way better than image ads for adsense. Nor do I want to pummel my users with adverts because I want the natural flow on my website to read. Plus the number of adverts being placed by Google, was also affecting the performance score of my website when ran by Google. The irony. The scripts Google uses to serve it’s ads, were the main reason hurting the performance on my site. So don’t think so.
At the moment, I’m looking to replace my ads from affiliate links to something like an RPM network. Rather than being paid for conversions, I get paid based on how many impressions I get on an advert. This COULD be better for my website, but it’s always an experiment. I don’t intend on abandoning adsense entirely. I’m going to build new websites, but using the knowledge I learned to develop sites more specific to working with adsense, and using wordpress only designs.
Amazon is a good affiliate site (at least compared to the others). However I much prefer to work directly with actual people 1-1 rather than large companies, because I enjoy helping out people like me. I just need to figure out deep linking
